Cruise to Albania

Duration: Full  Day

Description:

For the more adventurous who wish to enjoy a different experience the following one-day cruise to the fascinating  country of Albania is on offer. After our departure from the port of Corfu we travel along the Albanian shores and we will  approach the port of Ag. Saranda city. Once our passports are checked the local tourist guide will introduce you to the  ancient city of Ag. Saranda. An additional guided tour is available for those who wish to enjoy a 20km tour by coach of  the south coast with it’s virgin shores and scattered islands. Moving on from the mainland we pass small picturesque  villages, endless fertile plains leading to a great lake.

The highlight of your day will be the excursion to Butrint – designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage site in 1997.

Over  the centuries, the ancient town had disappeared under layers of silt and vegetation – but archaeologists have uncovered one of the best remains of a working town in the Mediterranean. At the edge of the lake where the ancient  city of Vouthrota is situated, with it’s well maintained archaeological monuments and ancient theatre, the visitor is  taken 2500 years back in time to the 3rd century A.D. The ancient gymnasium, the Roman ablutions, the ancient temple  with the priceless mosaic floor and the enormous stone walls will take you back to a time not known to man. Upon our return to the city of Ag. Saranda lunch is served. The afternoon allows for a tour of the town, until our departure from the land caught up in time.

Needed items: Passport or identity card, photo- or video camera, glasses, hat, comfortable shoes, carry with you a  small bottle of water for the tour to archaeological monuments. Duty Free is available.

Blue Lagoon

Duration: Full  Day

Description:

Enjoy yourself with us on a day trip to the Greek mainland of Epirus (opposite Kavos) to the islands of Nea Sivota and more!

Departing from Corfu harbour, we have a unique view of the old town, the Royal Palace, and the two Venetian  fortresses.

Heading towards the south of Corfu we see the Kanoni peninsula and the Palace of Mon Repos where Prince Phillip  from England was born.

Then we sail south-east and we pass parallel from Igoumenitsa, the capital city of Thesprotia and the third largest  international port in Greece.

Soon we will arrive at the traditional marina village of Plataria that attracts dozens of yachts during the summer season. Here you will have plenty of time to stroll through the village, to visit the souvenir  shops or take a refreshing drink in one of the traditional cafeterias under the shade of the Plane trees.

According to our schedule, we will leave this beautiful place and head for the picturesque bay of “Piscine” where the famous film “Blue Lagoon” was filmed.  History says that here in the middle ages, Arabian pirate ships used to moor close to this bay.

We anchor for about 1 hour giving you the opportunity to swim in the exotic blue waters of the Blue Lagoon or to try your luck at champagne diving.

We leave this exotic place behind us and after a while the ship will enter the breathtaking cave of Sivota.  Here, during  the Second World War, the Greek submarines hid underneath the lighthouse, in particular “Papanikolis”.

The next port of call is the traditional village port of Sivota.  Also here you will have plenty of time to stroll the village, explore the souvenir shops or to enjoy lunch at one of the many traditional tavernas.

On the return, we sail around the historical small island of Sivota, where in the summer of 432BC the greatest Naval Battle between the Corcyrians Fleet and the Corinthian Fleet took place, so began the Second Peloponnesian War which lasted for 3 years.

Still today many of the sunken vessels of that period remain as relics on the sea bed.

During your trip you can enjoy the sun and help yourself to the refreshments which may be purchased from the on-board bar.

We look forward to meeting you and we are certain that your sailing trip to the Mainland will be an unforgettable one.

En-route, in one of the mountain villages, we stop for coffee or refreshment (not included) and for taking photos.

A relaxing lunch stop on the beach in Kalamaki or Acharavi, time for a quick refreshing swim or lunch.

Then back up the mountain, off road, to the highest point of the island, Mount Pantokrator which peaks at 914m.  From the monastery of Pantokrator, we have a 360 deg. unobstructed view of the island and across to the Greek mainland.

The return journey takes us through the traditional villages of Strinilas, Spartillas, and back to the coast and the main road at  the resort of Ipsos.

Experience the breath of adventure whilst driving into the countryside, over stony trails and through olive groves.

Route row may differ depending on the participation.

Old Perithia village description :  the ancient village of Old Peritheia remains something of an enigma.

This historic ‘Heritage  Protected’ village is in  ‘A Designated Area of Natural Beauty’, situated on the attractive north east corner of the island and   just below Mount Pantokrator (The Almighty). It is the oldest example of the original mountain villages of Corfu. Records date  back to the mid 14th century, although it is considered to have been inhabited many centuries before. Around 130 houses were built, entirely by hand, some of which have now fallen into ruins, many of which are now under restoration.

The village, once inhabited by approximately 1200 people, was one of the wealthiest on the island, surrounded by vines, oak  trees and thousands of sheep that roamed across the mountainside. To this day, with its cobbled streets and ancient houses, the atmosphere retains its warmth and friendliness. Encircled by eight churches and nestling beneath the island’s highest mountains, Old Peritheia is set amidst beautiful countryside with views to the sea, it was once a hideaway from Pirate attacks.‘Suspended in time’ the village remains an enchanting discovery for visitors from all over the world. So whether you want to enjoy a great day out, step back in time, walk in the mountains, or just relax in one of the four tavernas and sample some locally sourced and home cooked food, then visit Old Peritheia and discover why it continues to hold a special place in the hearts of visitors and Corfiots alike, summer and winter, year after year.

Paxos-Parga

Duration: Full  Day

Description:

As no Greek holiday is complete without a sea cruise, we offer you the opportunity to visit two wonderful places.

The picturesque town of Parga which lies on the Greek mainland and the island Paxos situated close to the southern coast of Corfu.

Departing from the harbour of Corfu, we have a unique view of the old town, situated among the two Venetian fortresses. Heading towards the south of Corfu we see the Kanoni peninsula and the palace of Mon Repos where Prince Phillip was born. We also see the tourist resorts Perama, Benitses as well as the most southern part of Corfu – Kavos and Asprokavos. As we approach the channel between Corfu and Paxos we see in front of us the green island of Paxos covered with olive and cyprus trees.

The legend has it that Paxos was formed when Poseidon severed the tip of Corfu with one mighty blow of his trident and dragged it south to create an idyllic retreat for his love, the nymphe Amphitrite! It’s up-market reputation continues today as millionaire yachts sit at anchor alongside local fishing boats. Entering the narrow channel, which leads us to the picturesque small port of Gaios village, we see a breathtaking view of the two islands Panagia and Agios Nikolaos. From the harbour close to the center of Gaios village you can easily walk through the wonderful narrow streets and enjoy your lunch at one of the traditional tavernas.

Then we head towards the Greek mainland and the town of Parga which is a large picturesque village with island character, a rich and eventful history, rare physical beauty, interlaced beaches, emerald sea, calm bays, olive groves, a healthy climate, romantic side streets and pathways with two three storey houses forming an amphitheatre under imposing remains of a Venetian castle.

As we return to Corfu we travel close to the Mainland enjoying another wonderful view of the impressive rocky coast and the sandy beaches. As no Greek holiday is complete without a sea cruise, we offer you the opportunity to visit three wonderful places.

The island of Paxos and Antipaxos, which are situated, close to the southern coast of Corfu and also the famous blue Caves of Paxos.

Departing from the harbour of Corfu, we have a unique view of the old town, among the two Venetian fortresses. Heading towards the south of Corfu we see Kanoni peninsula and the Palace of Mon Repos where Prince Phillip was born.  Sailing south, we pass the tourist resorts Perama, Benitses, Moraitika, Messonghi, the quaint fishing village of Petriti ,the village of Kavos to the cape of Asprokavos which is the southern-most point of Corfu island.

Legend has it that Paxos was formed when Poseidon severed the tip of Corfu with one mighty blow of his trident and dragged it south to create an idyllic retreat for his love, Amphitrite!  The Legend continues with Poseidon’s marble Palace which was situated in one of the blue cave of the island named Ipapanti.

During our journey, on the left hand side, we see the beautiful port of Lakka.  We continue sailing south along the west coast of Paxos island, enjoying the impressive rocky coast line and the unique white sandy beaches.

Then the boat enters the breath-taking sea caves, the crystal-clear blue waters will leave you speechless.

We depart from the caves and soon arrive at the small but perfectly formed island of Antipaxos, whose magnificent turquoise-blue water gently lapping the sandy coves have been compared to the Caribbean.   Here you will have the opportunity to swim in the crystal waters of “Paradise beach”.

Kalypso – Shopping

Description:

This is a combination of two excursions in one.

A coach to the old port in CORFU TOWN to board the Kalypso Star with large bay windows giving everyone the opportunity to explore and enjoy the world beneath the sea, with the endless variety of fish and plants.  Just a few minutes aboard to reach Vidos Island to view the underwater show with divers introducing us to lobsters, star fish, octopus and then atraining/playing session with the sea lions

Then we return to Corfu Town for three hours free time.

Apart from the many shops in Corfu Town there are plenty of sights: the fish, fruit & veggie market near the New Fortress, the Palace of St Michael & St George, the famous Church of St Spiridon with its red campanile, the New & the Old Fortresses.  The British cemetery full of wild orchards in spring and the headstones which tell the tale of the chequered history of Corfu

So the clients will spent  1 hour on the boat and the rest (about 3 hours ) inside Corfu town,  shopping or hanging around , visiting churches, the Town Hall Square, the two fortresses, the main square , or having a coffee at the famous Liston.

The KALYPSO STAR is a specially constructed boat for Undersea Cruises. It is not a submarine, but a surface trim Aran boat which can accommodate 50 passengers. It is made of aluminium and unbreakable transparent material and controlled by instruments of the highest accuracy.

With its large bay windows the Kalypso Star gives everybody, no matter what age or physical ability, the opportunity to explore and enjoy the world beneath the sea, with the endless variety of fish and plants.

The boat leaves from the OLD PORT in CORFU TOWN every hour.

It takes about 5 minutes to get behind VIDOS Island (the small Island which is opposite the Old Port) and there we slow down to have the first look at the bottom of the sea. After 5 more minutes we arrive at the reef where we stop for the FIRST SHOW with the DIVERS.

Experienced divers surrounded by fish, swim among them, feeding them and show to us some of the strangest forms of life of the sea, such as lobsters, star fish, octopus e.t.c. and we have a very good chance to shut some  wonderful  underwater photos. Then we move next to the floating pad with the SEA LIONS for the SECOND SHOW. There, the sea lions, with their trainers, perform a unique performance. We will enjoy them swimming, diving, jumping and playing around, with their Trainers, in their NATURAL ENVIRONMENT THE SEA.

It must be mentioned that the Sea Lions were born in captivity in a swimming pool and now they’re living in the Open sea. On the way back we admire the OLD CORFU TOWN with its two Fortresses appearing from the sea.
