5 DAYS > ATHENS, DELPHI & METEORA
Day 1. Arrival Athens airport. Private transfer from the airport to your hotel in Athens center. Overnight in Athens.
Day 2. Half day Athens city tour. Tour starts with short stop at the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896. Continue and pass by bus by the Prime Minister’s residence (ex Royal Palace) guarded by the Evzones in their colorful uniform, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian’s Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library & the Constitution Square (Syndagma). Final stop is Acropolis and the new Acropolis museum.
Afternoon half day tour to Cape Sounio. Departure from Athens, the bus pass along the coastal road and the wonderful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni & Varkiza to the most southern point of Attica, Cape Sounion, where the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon stand (visit). On the way back one can have a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf and the little islands offshore. Return to Athens late in the afternoon. Overnight.
Day 3. Pick up in the morning for the 2-days Tour of Delphi & Meteora. The bus departs from Athens for Delphi via Thebes, Levadia and the picturesque village of Arachova, on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. Arrival to Delphi and visit of the archaeological site (the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo and the Museum, containing such masterpieces of Ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias)
After visit departure for Kalambaka, passing through picturesque villages and towns of Central Greece. Dinner and overnight Kalambaka town.
Day 4. Visit of Meteora, a unique and most impressive scenery with ageless Monasteries, containing priceless historical and religious treasures. Return to Athens via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae (short stop to see across the road the Leonida’s monument). Arrival in Athens early in the evening. Overnight.
Day 5. Departure private transfer from your hotel to the airport.
